Located at the Pacific Forestry Centre, Canadian Forest Service, the Ecological Resilience Forecasting (EcoReF) Lab focuses on developing forecasts of ecological dynamics and properties across large landscape scales to assess and quantify ecosystem resilience to various global change drivers, such as climate, fire, land-use and management. A large focus of the group lies on forecasting changes in forest dynamics and forest ecosystem services to inform policy and forest management.
The EcoReF Lab recognises that there are many players involved in the study of ecosystem resilience and in ecosystem management and conservation, across all ecosystem types. Hence, another aim of the EcoReF Lab is to help bridge research efforts between sectors (federal, regional and local governments, academic, private and NGO institutions) and between researchers, practitioners and local stakeholders, to speed up science translation into practice and policy.
One way in which we do this, is by being part of the Predictive Ecology Community with whom we tightly and actively collaborate with, in addition to a number of research partners across academic and non-academic institutions (Members & Collaborators).
